Problem : Microland is in the business of providing infrastructure management services. A new business process at Microland had to publish its operational information in a graphical way on the web. To do this, information generated by processing agents had to be captured and graphical reports had to be generated in real-time.

Solution : We first built a customized intranet application to manage information capture and processing agent details. This intranet could scale up to any number of agents. Flexible enough to add more modules to capture different kinds of information that could come up in the future.

Parallely, a publishing tool was built. This was for the administrators / managers to check quality of information. This publishing tool also acted as a gateway to assess the performance of the team of agents by managers.

Connected to the above two applications, we built a portal system to show results. This contained drill down searches and many types of clickable graphical reports. More than 30 types of reports could be accessed through this portal. The portal was built to be flexible enough to create different kinds of reports apart from the ones pre-built.

All the three applications have role-based access system built in. Eight unique roles were defined. This system was one of the key highlights of the business offering. This system demonstrates the power of web applications applied smartly to solve business problems
